But for specific answers regarding shipping a automobile to or from Detroit, Michigan, read on.
Our steps to booking the shipment of your automobile is streamlined. It can be divided into 3 steps.
1) PRELIMINARY STEPS TO AUTOMOBILE SHIPPING
What’s the process for transporting my vehicle from Detroit, Michigan? Great question. Our first step is to book your move so your dispatch team can start planning the most ideal transport for your automobile.
They do have to take into account the size, weight, height and type of carrier you are requesting, which primarily are open and closed trucks.
We will need basic details about your automobile like the VIN number, year, make and model of each car you are shipping. This tells us the information we need to properly place your vehicle on a carrier.
We will provide you a free shipping quote that includes the entire expense required to ship your vehicle from pick up to your destination. Our prices are guaranteed and do not change for any reason unless changes are made to your car transport.
2) CAR PICK UP
The 2nd step in the process is the pick up of your vehicle. In almost all cases, we do pick up at your home in Detroit, Michigan and deliver to the specified destination you gave us when you booked your shipping.
The most common factors that come up when picking up from a residential address are local regulations on driving a big rig into the neighborhood. If there are no regulations regarding driving a transporter then we pick up from the destination you gave us when you booked your transport.
Once your driver arrives, you will do a walk around of the automobile with the driver. You both will sign the Bill of Lading that identifies any existing chips, damage or dents. After you receive a copy of your Bill of Lading, they will load the vehicle, secure it and prepare it for transport from Detroit, Michigan. Once it’s loaded in the truck the driver will start their journey to the next destination.
Because a driver moves more than on car at a time, he/she may have multiple pick ups and drop offs to make prior to your car arriving at its final destination.
3) CAR DELIVERY
As the time gets closer for your vehicle to arrive, your driver will contact you. It is difficult for a transporter to know precisely when they will arrive before they get closer to the destination because of the many variables that can slow their progress. This includes traffic, weather and federal guidelines regarding rest and how long transporters can actually be on the road.
Normally, you should be contacted by your carrier typically within the last 24 hours before your vehicle is scheduled to arrive. Although we have made it clear to our drivers we prefer as much advance notice for our clients as possible, we do know sometimes they don’t know when they will get there until just a few hours before they get to their destination.
When the auto carrier arrives, you will repeat the same inspection that was completed when the car was picked up. The driver will have a copy of the Bill of Lading for you to compare existing damage marked during your pick up inspection. You’ll look over the car again to ensure the car looks good and then sign the document. The driver will give you a copy for your records.
So shipping your car to or from Detroit, Michigan can be a reasonably effortless process. We always strive to ensure to make the entire experience pleasant for every client.

We found a great company
I work for a high-end car dealer and we have been using United for some time now. Every time we shipping a car we get quotes from a few different companies, but we always seem to come back to these guys. They always have a good price and we know that they are going to do a fantastic job. Over the years we have had some minor issues, but the great thing about these guys is that they communicate well and solve the problems. I defiantly recommend these guys for shipping your vehicles.
Don't make the same mistake that i did...
I don’t know why i have to learn things the hard way:( I went with the cheapest company and they didn’t show up to pick up my car. I tried calling them all day long and they wouldn’t answer the phone. I had already given them a deposit and so then i had to go through the hassle of doing a chargeback. They had four-stars, so i thought i was good. I started calling around and i found joe with United Car Shipping. He was really nice and explained why the other company couldn’t get a driver to pick up my car. Joe was awesome and he got a driver to come out the next day. Everything worked out and i was very happy with this company. I ended up paying a couple hundred dollars more, and it was worth it! These guys are really nice and the understand how to communicate. Thumbs up for United!
I booked, they picked up and delivered. Everything went smooth and i have noting but good things to say about this company.
Very happy with the service!

Customer service – awesome
Price – average
Pickup – everything went smooth and driver did a great job!
Delivery – driver called the day before and gave me a time and he showed up as he said he would.
Totally recommend this company!
