Three traps that burn people shipping a car across the border

A border crossing gives a bad broker more places to hide. Here’s where they hide.

    Trap 01

The quote that stops at the border

A low number that covers the truck to the crossing and nothing after it. Then you find out the border step and the delivery leg on the other side were never in the price.

    Trap 02

    The carrier who won’t cross

Plenty of carriers only run domestic. Book through a broker who doesn’t know the difference and your car reaches the border with no truck lined up on the other side.

    Trap 03

    The paperwork surprise

One missing ownership document and the car doesn’t cross. Nobody checked before pickup, so you find out at the worst possible spot — the crossing itself.

So your Transport Advisor walks the whole crossing with you before anything ships.

    How It Works

A truck, a border, your driveway. One person owns it.

A cross-border move is a domestic move with one extra step. You shouldn’t have to become the expert on that step.

    STEP 01

Talk it through with your advisor

Fill out the form and a real person calls within minutes. Together you walk the route: which direction, which cities, open or enclosed, and the full price end to end.

    STEP 02

    We line up the crossing

Your advisor assigns a vetted carrier who runs this lane, then goes through the paperwork with you — title and ownership documents first — so nothing bounces at the border.

    STEP 03

    Your car crosses and delivers

Pickup at the door, across the border, delivery at the door on the other side. The same advisor keeps you posted until the keys are back in your hand.

The border adds a step, not a month. Your advisor gives you a realistic window for your route before you book.

    The Plain-Words Version

What a US–Canada car shipment looks like

No ships, no cranes. A truck picks up your car, crosses the border, and delivers it to a driveway. Here’s each piece.

One advisor, one planYou and your Transport Advisor walk the route on one call: direction, cities, open or enclosed, and the price end to end. No handoffs to a call center.
The paperworkPlan on your title and proof of ownership at minimum. What else comes up depends on which way you’re going and why the car is moving — your Transport Advisor walks you through exactly what your crossing needs.
A carrier who runs this laneLicense, insurance, and safety record verified before assignment — and the load only goes to a carrier who crosses this border, not one who stops at it.
Door to door, both sidesPickup and delivery on either side of the border. You don’t drive to a crossing, and you don’t wait at one.

    Common Questions

Shipping a car between the US and Canada

How long does US–Canada car shipping take?

It depends on the route — Seattle to Vancouver is a different trip than Florida to Toronto. The border adds a step, not a month. Your Transport Advisor gives you a realistic pickup and delivery window for your specific lane before you book.

    What documents do I need?

Plan on your title and proof of ownership at minimum. Beyond that, it depends on which direction you’re going and why the car is moving — a household move, a purchase, or a seasonal stay each look a little different. Your advisor walks you through exactly what your crossing needs, and checks it with you before pickup.

Can I pack my belongings in the car?

Generally, no. Personal items in the vehicle can hold up the crossing and usually aren’t covered by the carrier’s insurance. Ask your advisor before you pack anything — not after.

Do you pick up in the US and deliver in Canada, or the other way around?

Both. Door-to-door pickup and delivery on either side of the border, in either direction. Tell your advisor the two addresses and the plan gets built around them.

Is my car insured across the border?

Coverage is part of the route conversation, not fine print. Before anything is booked, your advisor confirms the carrier’s current cargo and liability coverage and goes through what applies on your shipment, both sides of the crossing.

    How much does it cost?

It depends on the route, your vehicle, and whether you choose open or enclosed transport. One warning: a quote that stops at the border isn’t the price. Your advisor prices the full route with you, end to end, on the call.

    Ready When You Are

You don’t have to figure out the border alone.

Tell us which way the car is going. A real person — your Transport Advisor — calls within minutes to walk the crossing with you and give you a real number.
