We have more than 10 years experience working with service members, and our staff has knowledge that you can trust in transporting your car. We take pride in providing our customers the best customer service, fastest shipping, and secure pick-up and delivery for your POV, or any type of Military Vehicle, with military car transportation rates that are reasonably priced. Understand that is why we are proud to offer discounted rates to active duty members of the military when they are moving their personal property vehicles (POV). Nexus will provide all of the information that service members need to ship your car safely, cheaply, and in a secure manner.
The Active Duty Military will only send your vehicle free if you are a serving Active Duty Member when you apply, and have received your PCS (Permanent Change of Station) Order. Military members making permanent changes of station (PCS) moving from one duty station to another actually do have certain rights, and there is a limited POV (Privately Owned Vehicle) car transportation authorization in the contiguous United States (CONUS) if a service member is not able to drive, has had homeport changes, or does not have sufficient travel time. For transportation of a POV after separating from the service, the limit of time to ship the POV is the same limit for travel and household goods transport, which is one year after retirement/separation if the severance is paid, or 180 days after separation. For transporting a car into the U.S. from another country, Alaska, or Hawaii (OConus POV transportation CONUS), you will need to have a valid street address in the U.S. to allow your car through Customs.
The United States Government generally covers the costs of transporting an individual car from an overseas U.S. military base (OCONUS) to an onshore U.S. mainland base (CONUS) or vice versa. Car transportation costs for service members are covered through reimbursements when the PPM family moves abroad. If the service member wishes to send a second car, the service member must pay out-of-pocket for this transportation. Every car mover would be able to transport vehicles for service members, but not every one would transport military vehicles.
When you need a vehicle shipped, consider Nexus Auto Transport for your military car transportation needs. To better understand how much of your moving budget you will have to devote to shipping your military car, it is always best to get one or two quotes on auto transportation from a variety of car haulers. All the transportation companies that we listed here, as well as most others, will have online quote calculators that can provide you with an idea of the moving budget. Look at the needs for moving the vehicle, what timeframes are you comfortable with, how much can you stretch your budget, what will you and will not need assistance with, etc.
Not only will you get an overall sense of what you need to spend on your car shipment, you can also be able to filter out car transport companies that are charging unjust amounts for basic car transportation services. For better insights into what shipping a car costs, you will want to check out our rates calculator page. You can also click here for a FREE, no-obligation, quote for the cost of shipping your car.
Consider the costs to ship a PPM-program vehicle for your service member, along with estimates for setting up at a new location. Your moving budget should be based on estimates from moving companies or moving truck rental companies, an estimate of your military PCS vehicle shipment costs, and an approximation of what setting up your new home would cost.
You cannot receive a refund unless you have your receipts, whether for vehicle costs or transportation. Without these receipts — whether for moving van costs or the cost of the vehicle shipment — you will not have the supporting documentation necessary to receive the refund you are seeking following the move. There are many logistical details to iron out, and a lot of details that you need to track down in order to qualify for reimbursement.
In order for you to claim your deductible expenses as an out-of-pocket expense, you will need to file your claim first with your transport company and your transporters insurance company, be denied, and give American Auto Shipping documented evidence of this. You also need to provide evidence of the claim being filed with your own insurance company and accepted, the repairs being performed, and give us a total deductible amount you paid out-of-pocket.
If there is any damage to your car while being transported, and your carriers insurance does not cover it, American Auto Shipping will assist in paying the deductible on your personal insurance. Cargo carriers are not licensed or insured to carry personal belongings or household items, however, American Auto Shipping does realize you might want to place certain items into the car.
When speaking to one of our transportation agents, make sure you tell them that you are active duty military or veteran, so Guardian Auto Transport can provide you with a military discount. It is absolutely worth getting in touch as you may be eligible for our Military Car Shipping Discount. We will call to confirm your pickup date and inform you about the next steps of the military car transportation process.
